The Adultry Song

I'm nothing
to write home about
I'm the best thing in your life
But I am the best kep secret
from the kids and the wife.

We keep each others council
find our new confidence sweet
ignore each other in crowded rooms
where even our eyes can't meet;
till sick of feeling love sick
we seek temporary cures
always my place never yours.

Becuase I'm nothing
to write home about,
Im the best thing in your life.

We talk of somewhere we'll go sometime
as soon as you can,
till then I'm snatching stolen time
with a borrowed man.
We salt our suppers with secrecy
steal kisses in the park
then you love me half the night with hte lights on
but you keep her in the dark.

No I'm nothing to write home about
I'm the best thing in your life
but you have to keep me a secret
from the kids and the wife

You say you're sorry to leave me
I say it's okay
and skin to skin we cling once more
then you shower love away
take the car keys by my ticking clock
go and leave me in my bed
with her photo in your wallet
my phone noumber in your head.

Cause there is nothing
I could phone home about
there's the kids and the wife
even for a matter of life and death
I can't interrupt your life

No I'm nothing
to write home about
I'm the best thing in your life
But I am the best kep secret
from the kids and the wife.
